As I announced my stepping down as the President and CEO, three local firms with potential job opportunities approached me.  I let each know about my desire to travel and that any working relationship would formally start sometime in 2009.  Jeff Paddon, the president and founder of the Lansing-based firm Public Policy Associates, had the most appealing and flexible proposal.  We had a number of conversations before I left last December.  I have always had a great deal of respect for Jeff and the members of his team.  I had worked closely with them on a few projects in the past.  A week before I left, I agreed to become an affiliated consultant with PPA.

PPA is national research firm that has expertise in economic development, education, workforce development, environmental issues, and healthcare.  I am looking forward to brining my expertise in nonprofit management and local government to their team formally in 2009.  To learn more about what my future colleagues are doing check out their website at www.publicpolicy.com.
