Sam Singh - Nonprofit Advocate
How This Came About | Mayor of East Lansing | My Future Employer | Resume
Shortly after I graduated from Michigan State University, I joined the Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA) as the director of volunteer services and the Director of one of its affiliate programs-Volunteer Centers of Michigan.
After three years, I was promoted by the board of trustees of the Michigan Nonprofit Association to serve as the President and CEO, a position I was proud to hold for ten years.
The Michigan Nonprofit Association represents over 1000 nonprofits and charities in the state of Michigan. MNA serves as advocate on behalf of Michigan nonprofits to the Congress, Governor and state legislature. MNA and its staff of forty provide training, conferences, technical assistance and member services to MNA’s members across the state.
It was a rewarding experience to work with such a talented staff and board of trustees over those ten years. The groups we advocated for were doing such important work in local communities ranging from community development, feeding the homeless, protecting the environment and protecting families and children.
I looked forward to going to work every morning which not everyone is fortunate to say about their job. To learn more about the good work my former colleagues are doing- go to www.mnaonline.org.
